This week is Baker & McKenzie’s annual International Environmental Conference in Chicago, Illinois on June 19-21, 2019. Jonathan Cocker is moderating the panel, “Understanding the Scope of the Circular Economy Dilemma – The Global Plastics Challenge”. The panelists include Tim Carey (PepsiCo), Mario Facio (B&M – Mexico City), Renata Amaral (B&M – Sao Paulo), Pascal Mallien (B&M – Antwerp), Doug Sanders (B&M – Chicago).
The panel will discuss a high level overview of circular economy initiatives more generally and then focus more closely on the plastics situation. There will be specific discussions on the EU plastics strategy, Mexico’s plastic container bans, U.S. state developments on limiting plastics, and sectoral agreements and enforcement in Brazil and other South American jurisdiction. The aim of the panel is to consider existing plastics regulations and how clients can adopt and develop global and localized strategies for compliance.

Jonathan D. Cocker heads Baker McKenzie’s Environmental Practice Group in Canada and is an active member of the firm's Global Consumer Goods & Retail and Energy, Mining and Infrastructure groups.
