| David Hackett Speaks at UN on Sustainability
On July 17, 2019, David Hackett presented at the UN’s sustainability conference in New York. As part of the Ministerial segment of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (“WBCSD”) held a joint conference entitled: “Lead, Transform, Succeed: Chief Sustainability Officers for SDGs.” David spoke on a panel, “Collaboration for SDG Impact” with senior company officials from multinationals regarding business efforts to advance the UN Sustainability Development Goals (“SDGs”). Among other things, he addressed Baker McKenzie’s leadership role in seeking to advance the Principle 16 priorities involving Peace, Justice and the Rule of Law. Mr. Hackett advises senior management, legal departments and boards at multinational companies and nonprofits regarding compliance, risk, environmental and sustainability matters. He serves as the outside counsel to the UN Global Compact US Board as well as the Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation. He also serves on the WBCSD North America Board and participates on the World Resources Institute (“WRI”) Corporate Advisory Board. |
David Hackett Speaks at UN on Sustainability
David Hackett advises senior management, legal departments and Boards of major corporations and nonprofits on compliance, risk, environmental and sustainability matters. He has exceptional experience managing US and international compliance and environmental projects, including the evaluation and development of effective compliance and sustainability programs. He also has extensive experience litigating major civil and criminal environmental matters. David sits on multiple nonprofit boards and additionally advises many civic and nonprofit organizations across the globe. Following his tenure with the Environmental Enforcement Division of the US Department of Justice, David joined the Firm where he has played a formative role in the establishment of the Firm's compliance, environmental, climate and sustainability practices. At Baker McKenzie, David has served as the managing partner of North America, a member of the Global Executive Committee, and Chicago office managing partner. He has also been the North America Chair of both the Compliance Practice Group and the Banking, Finance and Major Projects Practice Group.
