During GreenBiz, Baker & McKenzie speakers will be involved in several programs.  On Tuesday, February 4, Christie Constantine (Baker Sustainability Director) will be on a panel at 8:30 AM entitled “Aligning and Integrating Your Sustainability Strategy with the SDGs,” in which she will be addressing the Firm’s efforts to implement the UN Global Compact’s Sustainability Development Goals (“SDGs”).

On Thursday, February 6, at 8:30 AM, Baker senior partner, David Hackett, will moderate a panel on Board Governance and Sustainability.  Joining David on the panel will be:  Gloria Santona, Baker senior counsel, McDonald’s former General Counsel and current Aon Board Director; Susan Whiting, former Vice Chair of Nielsen, and current Board Director of Alliant Energy and Kemper; Elise Gautier, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, Sims Metal; Katherine Pickus, VP Global Sustainability, Griffith Foods; and Eleanor Leach, Associate, Redefining Value, World Council for Sustainability (“WBCSD”).  The panel discussion builds on the WBCSD Report released on January 29, 2020, “Modernizing Governance,” which Baker McKenzie co-authored with Deloitte and WBCSD.  As part of that report, board governance requirements were compared in 12 jurisdictions along with interviews of board directors collectively sitting on more than 50 boards.  Based on that work, multiple recommendations were presented in the report for enhanced board and management engagement on sustainability.  Aspects of those recommendations will be further addressed in a second report forthcoming later this year.
